I have been using my 95 C4 for 3 years as a DD. I LOVE IT! I also use it as my Auto-X car.
In 3 years, I have gone over 30kmi, & 3 sets of tires.
It has never left me strandard, & never given me any problems.
All that has needed to be done (sans 30k service & oil changes) are on dash light, & one HVAC servo. Oh, the AC needed to be recharged.
The car is great all round. I have even done Costco runs in it. The biggest downside is the lack of space, & you can't bring 4 of your friends any where, they will not fit in the back. But a 40lbs dog fits very nicely. The cars are smooth, quiet, & very comfortable. Mine has been driven year round & through the snowy mountain passes & lowland snow ( they do NOT use salt on the West coast). You will start to take the long way to work, & find reasons to out & drive the car. It just gets in your blood & you want to exercise her. Freeway on-ramps will become mini road courses.
I really LOVE my car, & am very happy to hop in a cool car everyday. It does start to get a little old when clients see the car, or other non-car people make their comments. I even had a cop one day not believe my registration, that it was a 95, he thought it was new. Most non-car people think you are driving a $100,000+ car.
I also hate it when Porsche people say my car looks to much like a 997!!! I say NO, it looks like a 993, & the 997 COPIED the curves of the 993.

I love your extreme usage! Will a wooden block work to loosen your caliper? The steel concerns me.

Stealth makes a good point I think; most folks think our 993's are in the exotic car class.
I have told several over the years (usually at the gas station), "Yeah, I suppose, but your SUV/Minivan/big truck (insert your choice) is probably worth more than this old car".

There was a time when I lived too far from my office to walk and too close for a proper warm up. I lived and worked downtown so all "long ways" had stop and go traffic. I felt quite uneasy about mistreating my car during that time. I guess it all depends on your circumstances.
I did make it up by going for canyon runs at least once a week.
