You guys need a little something different than north GA, which is fine but there is so much more. Try heading east to SC and Highway 11 to Caesar's Head state park. An excellent elevation run and views to kill for from the parking lot (a short walk to the overlook and a nice place for a break too). Also off Hwy 11 is 178 (a Mobil station on the corner) which is a real 'twisty' that takes you up to Rosman, NC and Hwy 64. No traffic, incredible foliage right now and for the next two weeks or so. Wind your way back or look for more 'twisties'. I would NOT take the road to Cashiers or Highlands on a weekend this time of year. It is just too crowded. NC is getting a little too far for many of you but there are 'endless' roads with very little traffic if you ever want to make a weekend out of it. The Atlanta BMW Z3 club just had their annual Maggie Valley Fall Run and covered distances from the Blue Ridge Pkwy down numerous twisties to SC and back with a nice lunch in Brevard. Now if they can do it, 993 owners can do it too. Have fun!

That's the kind of specifics I am talking about. Hwy numbers and places to avoid.
Oh yeah, not just 993 owners, Porsche owners.

I ended up running up there last minute this afternoon and it was a great little drive. The leaves had plenty of color and the way I took was pretty much went against traffic and the road was pretty open. Here is the route I took:

At the end of 400N take a right on 60 and go through Dahlonega. Continue N on 60 until you reach US 19. Take a right and go toward Turners Corner. Take a left on US 129 and here is where the fun really starts. Banked turns and its a blast. Continue past Vogel St park and take a left on State Road 180 / Wolf Pen Gap. This road is very technical and takes you back to Suches / highway 60. Take a left and this goes back to Dahlonega. For me living in town this took about 3.5 / 4 hrs to do it all... But I stopped a few times to take pictures and get gas.

Nice photo...I know the spot well....You're decision to go later in the day was perfect...It was brutal up here from 10:00 AM until about 4:00 PM when everyone started back south...We were coming back north from the ballet and the southbound traffic on 400 was backed up for almost a mile at some traffic lights.

I think the 'brits call it "ginger".

TG Season 15 (this year) episode 2 where he interviewed Alastair Campbell and kept talking about his "Ginger" hair. Never heard that before.

Undoubtedly! Here's what he looks like these days...

Back to the original topic: Ryano, you enjoyed the route we typically take on our yearly runs, stopping to take pics at the very spot you did. Glad you had a great time.
