Default after 3 years of ownership, something finally broke

Since buying the car i've spent a bunch of $$$$$$$ with Mod's or P.M., but 0 $$$$ for actual failures.

Last week the drivers door, window actuation switch failed.
When using it, it moved "sideways" instead of up-n-down.

$42 and ~ 2 minutes to replace.

Hoping to have continued good luck for me and you.

Craig

This is great to hear, esecially for a guy looking to get a 993 in the next year or so. As an aside do you have any pics of your car posted? I would love to see the diff between Mid Night blue and Iris blue

You could have saved spending $42

Or do as bruce59 did:

Midnite Blue is a darker blue in comparison to Iris Blue.

Iris Blue has a purple tint from some angles.

Iris Blue is best. But I'm a little biased...

and yes, iris is a touch lighter, brighter and 'bluer' than midnight.

I think I found my primary color! That is very similar to the "Sonic Blue" I had on my 2003 Cobra. I love the way it looks kind of purple in certain light. Thanks for posting and explaining guys.

Also, I hope CGFEN bought OEM parts. The PCNA warranty is worth its weight in gold. OEM parts have a 2 year warranty.

I saw the title and said to myself "I can't believe he's gone three years and hasn't broken a window switch yet"... and then I read on.

Maybe - maybe not ...

I did a repair similar to Bruce - with the exception that a 5/64" hole was drilled all the way through, taking out the remaining 'good' hinge nipple: push in a 3/4" piece of brass rod, and that leaves two correct size hinge nipples .... unbreakable.
To get a piece of brass the correct diameter, chuck it up in a drill and spin it over folded sandpaper = a mini lathe.

I made the mistake of buying a cheap aftermarket window switch. One hot Texas summer day this year, it shorted, made a popping noise, and was smoking away while my wife sat there laughing at me and my "old" car and while I was frantically pulling it out of the socket to avoid further damage.

Have to agree. I really like the change of shade as you approach .
I have to spend some time on a touch up job soon. The rear fender clear plastic protection stick - ons are looking a bit sad. Lots of stone chips and even a bit of clear coat peeling at the front. I don't want to repaint the whole car but partial jobs make it look like it was pranged. Leave it showing some character or go the whole hog?? Decision time soon -summer here down south in about two months. Very few resprays ever look as new unless a total strip down is done and I worry about some ham-handed clot piecing it together. Not any great paint shops around here.
Cheers

Hi Simon, since your car was the inspiration for me buying these wheels

front = 9" X 18, not sure about ET but ~ 40 235 - 40s

rear = 11" X 18 ET ~ 36 295 - 35s

I need to measure the backspace and calculate the ET.

Cheers

Craig
