Where were you in '82?

I was in junior high. A few years later I owned an 82 Monte Carlo just like the one in back. A year of ownership and I decided I needed more power so I moved "up" to an 84 Monte Carlo SS - that's right I said SS!!!! It was very rare in that most SS's had bucket seats but mine had a blue bench seat with white head rests with SS stitched in blue on them. These seats were so rare that I'm sure LA Monte Carlo Dismantlers would be selling them today for close to 10k! I wish I had pictures - but my 110 was always out of film.

At the SCCA Runoffs trying to climb thru the window net of an ******* who had punted me off during the race. Luckily shortly after that he was arrested by a sheriff right out of central casting for his misdeeds of earlier in the weekend

In '82 I was in 7th grade and my ride was a Schwinn Varsity 10 speed with the black, soft, foamy handle bar grips on it (sweet!) and that headlight and taillight setup with the generator that ran against the side of the rear tire.
I lusted after a 1980-ish red 911 targa that was always parked in the corner of the local bank parking lot. I would check it out on the days I rode my bike to school.

The year I graduated from Pitt medical school. We had a 1980 Volkswagen Dasher Diesel (OFF/Idle/Full Throttle were the only choices, because it felt like it had 11HP) and a brand new 1982 Subaru Wagon (both cars 4 speeds).
