2 post lift lifting points
Those of you with two post lifts, (I guess scissor lifts would be utilizing the same points) do you put your lifting pads at the jack points or elsewhere? My "Quick Reference Guide of Vehicle Lifting Points" book from ALI seems to show the lifting points more inboard on some frame points.
Pics would be helpful.
Thanks

I use the standard points, just behind the front wheels, and just in front of the rear wheels, a bit more inboard. I use hockey pucks on the rear ones to make sure the arms clear the rocker panels, on the front is not a problem.
Note that these list points are pretty close to each other, so some lifts have a problem. I customized my lift, widening the posts by 14" which gives more room for the doors and the lift arms fit properly. (its a full sized 9000lb lift, the arms are pretty massive).
You should also have a portable jack for use on the lift, this is very useful to hold up the engine, tranny, or the car if you want to swing an arm out of the way. You need this for an oil change, since the drain is essentially right above the arm when the car is lifted.
Cheers,
Mike
