Default JIC Cross / Magic

Hi All,

I'm looking to re-build the dampers in the JIC Cross Competition suspension on my '95 993. Anybody work with JIC Cross / Magic lately or have a good contact person to talk to over there?

Hi All,

I had a few questions about my JIC re-build at the PCA breakfast yesterday and thought I should post a follow up to this thread.

First off, the info that John H posted in this thread is correct and the current address and contact information for JIC in the United States is :

I removed the complete coilovers from the car which took me about 5 hours or so. I'm sure a professional could do it quicker. This is the first time I have removed the suspension system from the car and I wanted to make sure it was done correctly so I spent a lot of time double checking everything and taking photos as I went. I cleaned up the coilovers and packaged them for shipping. Here's a photo of the coilovers cleaned up and about to be put in the box for shipping.

Most people will remove the springs, etc from the dampers and only send in the dampers but I wanted JIC to check everything for me and then set them up for me before they shipped them back. This extra service cost me $200 and is something that you do not have to do. Shipping from VA to CA cost me $75 with UPS.

Bryan at JIC turned them around in a little over a week. I had him replace pretty much everything in the dampers as well as upgrade them to the new style pistons. This part of the service ran $700 and shipping back to me by JIC was $50. Note, I use the standard 8 and 11 springs from JIC.

For those keeping score at home we are up to $1,025.

I wanted to make this as perfect a job as possible, so after I got everything put back together ( about 6 hours plus setting ride height ), I took the car to Lufteknic in Richmond, VA to have a real Porsche suspension specialist do the final adjustments to the suspension and the final alignment. I have a heavy TRG sway bar, tower strut, and droplinks, and as good a mechanic I think I am, I believe that this part of the job needs to be done by a true professional with the correct equipment or the overall system won't work at its best. It took the shop owner, Robert, about 3 hours to get everything exactly right and the cost was $250.

So the total to re-do the JIC coilovers "as-new" for my '95 993 was $1,275. including alignment.

All I can say about the ride now is that it is really really nice. Very precise and very smooth.

Enjoy!

George
