Tranny oil, yes, it's an oil thread so you've been warned.

I've had Mobil Delvac 1 75w-90 in for several thousands of miles now which includes several hundred miles on the track. My car has 59k mi and it shifts like butter. Well, maybe better than butter with the Golden Rod.

One no-cost temporary solution to the 1st to second shift crunch is to park the car in 2nd gear.
Try it - it really helps.
I was due for a change at 55K and just put in Redline 75-NS.
I noticed a significant improvement, so guess I can skip the 2nd gear parking trick now. We'll see when it gets colder later in the year.

I run Amsoil in both.
My C4S got the last of the S2000 75-90 & shifts flawlessly, even when cold.
The C4 has the regular Amsoil 75-90 & also shifts very well.
I also LOVE Redline oils, really for our cars, you want to MIX the MTL with the 75-90. MTL alone is to light, & the 75-90 is not really to heavy, but when you mix it's like butter. This is what Redline suggest to do.
Did it with in the MINI Cooper S, & it's been great!

Before investing any moneys in various tranny lubes, take a close look at you rear engine mounts. I went thru four different lubes to cure 1-2 shift notchiness with not much success.
After changing both engine mounts the problem magically disappeared. My last transmission oil change left me with Mobil Delvac 1 75w-90. It now shifts like butter

It is really interesting that some experience different feelings from the same oil. I have just changed mine to Mobil Delvac 75w-90, and now I am experiencing notchiness into 3rd. My car is mainly a track car (as matt777 will attest). I was running Motul Gear 300 75w90 (racing oil) and never experienced these issues, even when the oil was getting to the end of its life in the tranny.....
