Default NEW Update on Kelley Blue Book Prices

I posted a new thread a few months back about the Kelley Blue Book prices for our 993 models. I was very pleased with the results and I just went to the site again today www.kbb.com to see what happened to my value after reaching 50,000 miles on the odometer this week. IT WENT UP!! I punched in my '95 cab in 'good' 'private party' condition with the 50,000 miles and a few boxes checked, like power seats, premium wheels, etc.. $28,310 was the price for my zip code. If I punched in 'excellent' condition it went to $29.260, and if I wanted to really push the value to an insurance company,'excellent' 'retail' was $32,260!!! They sure have come a long way since I first contacted them about my 993 being valued at $17,000.

Maybe we've shot our selves in the foot.

Not working so well for me - lists my car (good) at ~$15k.

On the other hand I guess I could use it to my advantage, as the following car is at ~$35k (excellent).... 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S - Silver/Black 16,500 mi in Spokane WA - $58k

This is great for insurance purposes. Now some of use won't have to think about switching to an agreed value policy with another company and deal with their restrictions.

My 1996 C4S coupe came in as follows:

Retail
Excellent: $48,475
Good: $47,075
Fair: $44,675

Trade-in
Excellent: $45,375
Good: $44,125
Fair: $41,975

I was going to list my car (42k on it and a garage queen with all records and all the right stuff) for $40k just because I though that was fair in this market. Maybe I should reconsider...

I'll doubt I'll see those trade-in values at any dealer, but they certainly make for good ammunition when trying to make a deal.

$65,870 for my '97 turbo (met black) w/ 52,000 miles in good condition for Private Party value. mine has sport seats, though, and there is no option for that on KBB.com

Yeah, their algorithm is off for WA, the C2S w/ 16,500 miles that I linked above lists for $39,625 retail which is not even close.

Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately the higher mileage cars are still coming in 'under the radar' at KBB but I also understand that it is almost impossible to broadly price 'excellent, well maintained' cars that have higher mileage. I just wanted them to acknowledge our 993 models as 'special exceptions' and they have done so, not comparing them to newer 996 models or other cars from 1995-1998.

Definately more in line. Mine landed at $25k, which in my opinion is a fair market price on a completely stock 95 C4 993. Obviously mine isnt completely stock but Im happy with where the value is sitting.

In the west nobody uses KBB. Everyone, the banks, the dealers, the Wholesalers, the Insurance companies use NADA.

Not in California. My insurance agent uses both KBB and NADA. The last trade-in I did, my dealer quoted KBB. Most dealers use which one is in their favor or a combo of both.

"The system I use," adds longtime Southern California car salesman Roger Himmel, "combines checking value of a trade-in or used car purchase in Kelley Blue Book and the NADA guide, then telephoning wholesalers or other dealers to see what the value is to them. After all, for everything I buy, I must find a buyer."
