Nice car Cactus! I remember how Road & Track summed up the MkIV R32, they said "just think of it as
the Audi S4's baby brother." Indeed!

You have really got me thinking more about these, Cac-man.

In your research, are these work-onable by an owner with no VW experience?

Looks tight in there!

Great purchase CACTUS!

For the other - go drive one and you'll see why he made the purchase. I drove one a few years ago and it was awesome. Decided on the P-car though and have never looked back. Maybe one day!!!

That exhaust note on an R32 is so sexy

Got it inspected today and the mechanic was flipping out at how nice it was. He came in the door and said "Call Germany We Have A Nice One"!

Tell your mechanic to sign up for "Geography 101" at the local community college - the car was built in Slovakia.

I was test driving an R32 back in '04 when the 993 owning salesman and I spotted a "993 Turbo S" on a used car lot we were driving past. Closer inspection on the way home revealed it as a C4S Aerokit car. Salesman fully understood why I bought the C4S instead of the R32.

(Cactus, too funny to see Mountville on your sig. Karen and I were going to Lancaster to see her Mom last Thursday night, and I see this "Mountville" sign on PA30. I told her some guy who posts a lot on Rennlist is from there. Didn't put both together until now.)

They are. Enough room in the engine bay to replace any sensors, belts, filters, etc. The AWD system is not that complex - basically a FWD until it detects slip. Just change the Haldex oil in the rear diff and you're good to go. And it was the last year of the MkIV Golf, so they had ironed all the kinks by then.

Great cars, just look for one that hasn't been over-modified.
