Default Front wishbone/control arm removal DIY

I'm considering a set of C. Walrod's LCA bushings, and I'd like to get a sense of what the control arm removal is like before I order them.

If anybody has a DIY with pics, that would be appreciated.

thanks.

I saw a DIY somewhere...perhaps in the big thread (or in his instructions that come with the bushings). Getting the arms off isn't hard but getting the old bushings out is dirty grunt work.

is it just the two bushing bolts, the two eccentric/ball joint bolts, and a few of the ancillary bolts?

No ball joint separation or anything?

I feel comfortable enough getting the bushings out.

Thanks for the help, just read through that thread.

I'm fuzzy on the details but it sounds about right. I was installing PSS10s when I did the upgrade. The hardest part is getting the thin metal sleeve out of the arm without badly marring the bore of the aluminum control arm.

thats what I've been reading.

That said, from what I understand, the walrod bushings don't turn in the wishbone, but rather the center tophat is what moves inside the bushing.

Is that right.

Geolab, will do, thanks.

I found it easier than I expected. No ball joint seperation needed.. Be sure to mark the lower caster eccentrics before removal so you retain your alignment. I was able to remove the old bushings with a dull cold chisel and hammer ,No slots or cuts required. Complete job with a new front swaybar and new front brakes took about 5 hrs. I had an alignment afterwards but front hadn,t moved, rear needed adjustment so was worth it anyway. Now no wiggle when braking.

I'm gonna try a chisel, and if that doesn't work, bring out the old reciprocating saw.

I'm under a little bit of time pressure.

worst case, I'll pop over to protosport and have them make the exchange.

I just heated the control arm ends and pounded the sleeves out with a socket. Fairly straight forward and no cutting required.
