Oil Leak - base of intake manifold...?
Hi,
After I removed the Aux Heater Blower Assembly and installed the RS heater bypass, I was able to get a better view of the engine on the drivers side.
What I saw was some oil around the middle cylinder's intake manifold.
Here is some facts. Last month my oil level gauge at temp and idle was at the middle. After some track time, it when down to near the bottom of the gauge. I filled it up and now it is near the top of the gauge. The oil at the dip stick is about 3mm from the top of the twist. I don't know if this has any bearing or not.
What could cause this? How can I fix it?

I'm wondering if your oil level is high. I would drop it to the middle of the dipstick and see what happens (engine fully warmed and temp gauge horizontal, idling for at least a minute and on flat ground).

could it be from the varioram flap ? : https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-oil-leak.html

The gasket is probably shot, you should be able to take the flap out and change the gasket without lifting the intake, but there is not a lot of room in there. I will be changing the gasket on my car when i park it for the winter.

It should be pretty straight forward, remove the Aux Heater Blower Assembly, remove the shield over the alternator housing (the one that tends to break) remove the two bolts that hold the flap (taking car not to loose the bolts into the abyss).
To take the flap out you have to bend the shroud a bit, very tight, but doable.
Wash with brake fluid, change the gasket and reassemble in the reverse order.

Akerlie or Eric,
I've got the same leak from the VarioRam. Glad to find this and another thread that show this isn't a big deal! Gotta love RL! All it took was a quick search of "oil leak varioram"
I wanted to confirm the gasket you are talking about is #14 here (just under manifold in pic) and flapper valve is #17:
Thanks!
