Great plan. Subtle changes to a car's appearance give it that "fresh" look we all desire without changing cars. Wheels are in this group as well.

By the way, do we need to send the picture police over?

this kinda talk makes me nervous...

If anything would go on the rear of my C4S besides the split grill, it would be the bomb tail...woops, I mean the duck tail...cause it is da bomb that is!

How come I never liked them on the earlier 911's, but I'm strangely drawn to them on the 993's?

aah $hit...another future mod to add to the winter list!

Well, after sanding, filling, priming, filling some more, priming, filling, painting, sanding, painting, sanding, clearcoating, sanding, clearing again, sanding, polishing, polishing, polishing....... I got the finish to acceptable (if it were being mounted on a 10 year old Honda). So I dropped it off at a body shop down the street this morning and it should be ready in a couple days. I'll take pics when I get it back and actually looks good.

I got it back from the paint guy last night and he did a MUCH better than me. Here are before & after pics for reference. It's different, but I like it. I have a "911" badge that I bought 5 years ago for the RS tail, but could not put it on due to the ghost image of the Carrera on the lid. I will either put that or get a "Carrera 3.6" decal from a sign shop; have not decided which way to go. The paint guy is going to wet sand & buff the tail after 3-4 weeks, so I have some time to decide.

I do have a question regarding the hood shocks. The ducktail weighs 20 #'s less than the RS tail and I think I could throw a bean bag over the front of the car when I open the lid; do I need to worry about warping/cracking the fiberglass tail with that much pressure? I just put heavy duty shocks on last year to hold up the RS tail. Does someone make a "weaker" shock or should I find some used ones or just not worry about it?

Thanks,

Going by your screen name, keep the decklid open with a stick...

Looks great!

Here is a free option. Find someone with a dead shock. Works really well.

How does the duck look on a cab? Anyone have pics? I already have the dead shocks.... now all I need is for the tail mechanism to fail and I'm in too!

If I were to install a tail, it would be a duck tail.

Looks great, course I'm a little prejudiced. A fellow rennlister was nice enough to send me his worn out shocks and they work perfectly. Was worried the stock ones may cause warping they are so strong.

I'm still waiting to see a duck tail on a cab too. It seems no one has done it yet. SO go ahead and do it so I can see yours to make sure I like it

I also still don't know what to do about the 3rd brake light basket handle.

Looks great!
I am having some decals made for my ducktail, and a client's. This is what it will look like only "italic" (for some reason photoshop will not let me do it in italic )
