Looks like the glue just let go all around the edges and the middle seam. See below.


the red circle is the middle seam which has completely let go = the saggy part

the Green circle is the back which blew out while driving.

When gluing back the headliner material, I've had good results using clothes pins to keep pressure on the material while the glue sets up. Use a length of wood lattice strip or a ruler on the exposed side so the clothes pins don't disfigure the headliner material.

Warning! I did mine tonight too. Frustrating as hell!! I had to remove that front metal deflector and lift the metal tracks up in the front to get it back in. The metal piece that you remove is flimsy as a wet noodle, and somehow I made a couple scratches in the paint on the outside of the main panel. Gah!!!

Have you actually taken yours out with this method? Doubt it. Try it on your car before suggesting it to others. Sorry, but I'd hate to see someone damage there headliner this way...

To take the headliner out I had to remove the whole sunroof panel. (NOTE: I have a 964, so there might be differences?)

So steps 1 through 4, THEN slide the panel back to loosen the whole sunroof. After the bolts were removed I lifted the panel out. Then pulled the sunroof headliner out...

Glues to consider: Good ol' 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive (the yellow stuff) or 3M #77 Hi-Tack Adhesive Spray (but you gotta watch out for overspray) or a good grade of brush-on contact adhesive. For proper adhesion, apply glue to both sides, let dry for a few minutes before assembly. For brush-on stuff, I like to use those small brushes they use for soldering flux. To avoid scratching the paint while installing, try covering the surface with some of that new GLAD Press'nSeal.

- Krazy glue makes a wood and leather version that works well

getting the panel back in:
- I hate to tell you, it's a whole lot easier to get that panel in with the roof panel out and the rails unscrewed - you really need to do this to keep from pulling the vinyl off again on the way back in. since you're not adjusting anything else, you wil probably not hose up the sunroof alignment.

Regarding my PSA announcement comment - I certainly figured you were at the track - just glad to know I should jack my windows up a bit at 115! Besides, there's NO way you could hear the stereo with the windows down at that speed.....

3M Super Trim Adhesive

You need a glue that can handle the higher temperatures.

I got my can at Advance Auto Parts.

BTW, its a spray, so you spray some into a cap and use a brush to apply it.

You shouldn't ask me how to do it, but here is what I would suggest:

1. Put in key, turn on (don't start car)
2. Move sunroof back about 3-5in - Keep it there. I went futher back during the process and that is probably where I scratched mine.
3. Move fingers above panel & sunroof
4. Pull down panel, it will snap out, you can feel where the clips are.
4a. Remove brackets on the side where support bars for deflector come down (2 phillips heads each)
4b. Remove tabs that hole down end of rail that vinyl is in (1 PH each)
4c. Remove deflector (2 PH)
4d. Pick up ends of channels and pull panel out to the front, up over the edge of the roof.
5. Remove panel

I have a couple scratches on my roof now and the edges of my vinyl that you cannot see are all gashed up. Hopefully I won't be back in there. If much else goes wrong, I'll be looking at sunroof delete as opposed to buying sunroof bits.

Oh, and I used soem thicj Gorilla super glue in a few spots and then black gorilla tape.
