Amongst other reasons, why we use AGM batteries in military vehicles...you can't get to them when you need a hoist to remove the turret.

BTW, back to batteries...

The group 91 is the correct battery for our 993s but Porsche has replaced it with the group 48 which is 15 mm (0.6 inch) taller. Although it interferes with the plastic trim panel very slightly, its not an issue after you neatly trim off a strip...or you can just leave it as it is.

I compiled an Excel spreadsheet with group 91 and 48 batteries.

Yes.

The group 91 is the correct battery...
The Interstate which I have is an "MTP-91" and the vent tube kit is part #358355 (according to my notes).

I am an East Penn fan and, since they make batteries for CarQuest, you can get them almost anywhere.

Thanks for the pic Rinty! So where does the other end of the vent tube go? Is there a hole that it fits into?

Where does the other end go...Zedder
It's been about a year since I did the install, but my recollection is that there is an existing tube there, that goes to the outside, and the vent kit just plugs into it. It was real easy.

I'll have another look at it tonight, but if you look at your existing battery, there should be a vent tube running from it, to the outside.

Or on certain motorcycles, where they are buried behind plastic panels.

Thanks Rinty. I'll check my red car as it has an Interstate in it.

Went with RED TOP through group buy. Model 35 fit perfectly. So far, so good.
