My Hagerty policy is up for renewal in October. I haven't had a spotless record over the past 5-years but what do folks think of my renewal quote and coverage. No mileage limit, Bodily Injury $50K/100K per accident, 50K property damage, uninsured 100k per accident. Guaranteed value is 44k for my C4S, and the renewal is $812/year
I've got:
$500K bodily injury per person per occurance
$500K uninsured/underinsured motorist per person/per occurance
$100K property damage
$1K deductible comprehensive/collision
$0 deductible on glass
No mileage limit
$631/year
I also have an additional $1 million umbrella policy on all my vehicles and real property for an additional $90/year.
My location is rural Georgia...A big difference from Venice Beach
50K/100K coverage is a little low in my opinion. One can burn through that amount with a hospital stay pretty damn quick. I'd get at least 100K/300K, personally.
Hagerty matches the limits on my daily driver which under a mercury insurance policy.
+1 on the 100K/300K. I suggest you change your daily driver to this amount. It's been the suggested [minimum] amount for quite some time...and the difference is probably less than $100 per year on your policy.
The internet quote from Grundy was a little lower (assuming the same coverage for an apples/apples comparison). In case the worst happens how is their service. How do people like their insurance?
Not that this is a fair comparison, but my 1964 T-Bird convertible is covered 100K/300K unlimited mileage with J.C. Taylor Antique Car Insurance for $180/year. I don't think they cover any car less than 20 years old though.
Search within this forum. Others have testified to successful claim transactions with Grundy. In my case I simply found them to be ~$300 cheaper than Hagerty on a annual basis.
Chuck, I have the utmost respect for you, but I'm not surprised you have a clean driving record. You're a police officer with the LAPD. I'd imagine there are very, very few cops without a stellar driving record in L.A.
I work in showbiz, and I haven't paid for a film in 20 years. Not a coincidence.
When I was reinsuring the Club Coupe to switch to stated value insurance, Heacock was significantly cheaper that Hagarty. Haven't had a claim yet, thank goodness.
