Default Any complaints/issues w/ the FVD "Freeway" steering wheel?

Tired of trying to locate a 3 spoke Porsche wheel w/ airbag at a reasonable price so I'm going to go with the FVD Freeway airbag wheel (340mm). Current price seems to be about $779 from FVD USA.

Anyone have any complaints with theirs? I would really like to get the wheel .75 - 1 in. closer to me if there is a extension hub available.

TIA

I have that wheel and it is wonderful. Don't know about any hub extensions (I got the "standard" hub), but the people at FVD were very helpful and I'm sure they'll know what's available.

Bill,
I had the same dilemma, waiting for a good used unit. I ended up with a RAID (same as FVD) wheel and adapter from Gert at Carnewal, but on sale now and less expensive. Gert is a class act, and consumer oriented.

Thanks for the info, seems like a much better price. I had 1 dealing w/ Gert, a set of shocks/springs that were falling out of the (bastardized) box when they arrived but from everything I've read that transaction was the exception rather than the rule with them. I would be more than willing to give them another chance.

Thanks again.

Actually, I think yours is one of the Daytona models. Both Gert/Raid and FVD have both Freeway and Daytona models (there are more versions of Daytona's though).

I got one too, had it for 3 years and don't have a complaint. The only thing they could have done better is the location of the horn buttons. You have to exactly hit the position for the horn to blow. Which means that you have to have your hands in the 9 and 3'o clock position to even reach the horn buttons. So no slacking in your posture and trying to wake up a snoozing commuter.
I purchased a Pcar hood crest of a 356 Porsche and glued it to the center too. Looks good but not stock.
I'd get one again. It feels much better then a 3 spoke 996 wheel in my opinion.

Hi

I have something similar and love it. I also gave up looking for the Porsche (Tip) 3 spoke.

I have the Gemballa version of that wheel. Aside from the lack of a Porsche crest it's perfect.

Thanks guys, I've emailed Gert about price/shipping and availability of a longer hub. I'm sure I'll hear back soon.

Yes, Wheel price, see his web site posted above (in case price changes), Hub (non-leather 80 euro) and shipping is 45 Euro.

The Daytona is in stock but it will take them a few of days to get the Freeway in stock (not a big deal to me).

A couple of things I was not expecting, the wheel (and airbag) are shipped air freight (I thought they would have to be surface shipped) and the Raid hub brings the steering wheel 20mm closer to the driver over stock (yea!).

So, I have a Freeway on order w/ Gert.

I have the same steering wheel. Fantastic addition to my car. You will love it!! Add the center crest and Euro trumpet horns for the full effect....

Well crap! My wife was on the phone when the FedEx guy came today so she didn't accept the delivery. They left a tag, I might just go down there this evening and pick it up.

That's pretty fast delivery, I wasn't expecting it until Mon.
