Vacationing in lovely Cape Cod and enjoying the fabulous weather. Crowds are over for the season - just a fantastic week to be away. Well over 80 degrees, not a cloud in the sky...
So Nat and I are hoofing it off an exit ramp (exit 9 into Dennisport), the Supercups barking "Who's Your Daddy?" as our hot sticky tires do the hokey-pokey with the available traction.
Pull up at a light and the fellow next to me rolls down his window:
"What kind of engine you got in that thing?" he asks.
Looks like the light's gonna change, so he gets the 10 second Coles Notes version:
"A small one, a six, about 220 cubic inch."
He leans over, and with a thumbs up, approves:
"Sounds great. Like an American engine. And that's a good thing!"
Can't say I disagree. She does sound sweet - good times!
PS - We're here for another week and a half, if any local listers want to meet up for a drink, please drop me a PM. We'd love to meet up.

Great looking car. Funnily, I had a very similar thing happen about a week ago. I have 100 cell cats and RSR style muffs. Passed a guy who pulled up next to me at the next redlight and motioned me to roll down my window. He says "flat six in that thing?". Yup. "sounds great, awesome car!".
. Thanks, I like it.

My old aircooled BMW R bikes were technically hemis as well. Never really understood the facination with the "Hemi" term. Kind of like when cars had "ABS", "EFI" or better yet "Cross Fire Injection" emblazoned on them somewhere.

I had to pick pick up a part at the Mercedes dealer, as I'm pulling out in my car with 200 cell cats and Fister stage II's, the guy in charge, motions for me to stop. I'm thinking cr@p what did I do now. He leans in and says "your car sounds awesome". Not much I know, but it means something coming from a guy that deals with very high end cars all day every day.

When I had my supercups I had people asking me all the time if I had a V8 in it... Even porsche guys, who always asked with a little disgust in their voice. lol.

In slow traffic I passed a lycra bound cyclist several times and at the lights he comes up, taps on my window. I leant back lest he had some copmplaint about passing too close and put down the glass.
"You got a V8 in there?" he asks with a smile starting, "sounds great."
I enlightened him about the flat6 and LPMM (less than USD200) but what kind of freak am I to remember that from 3 years ago, wiht a big smile whenever I recall it?

Me thinks the new Chryslers are not hemis...as in the old ones had hemispherical domes on the pistons and they trademarked the name Hemi but the new and current engines are not hemispherical. Read it in Autoweek or somewhere.
Oh well, it gives folks a way to say "big powerful engine"!
