Default Is there a Hemi in that thing?

yes, but not this kind, representative of a 66 or 67 Street Hemi

426 Cubic inches / 7.1L
4.25" bore
3.75" stroke
~ 475 net HP
~ 390 ft / lbs TQ
Twin Carter AFBs
Mechanical lifters
big / heavy overhead valve train
2.25" intake valves!!!

massively heavy, NOT fun lifting heads off over the fenders of a B body.
hard to tune

but very impressive visually.

A good 440-6 was typically a better choice

have fun

Craig

Uh, that's going to be a bit of a challenge... Our cottage is by Sheep pond in a clearing. I am planning to move the car to the middle of the yard, farthest from falling branches. We'll see. Fingers crossed.

We're in Brewster, so about 25 miles?

Best,

Never really understood the facination with the "Hemi" term
An example of great marketing in an era where OHC engines were rare.

Hope you're planning to head out of there before Earl shows up.

Earl is tracking to pass about 75 miles to our southeast and the weather channel is saying 60 MPH gusts.....we may be ok. We are leaving the boats in and that is the big indicator as so whether or not we are freaking out. More info later - i will post some pics.

Edit - now forecasting gusts to 75MPH....I might have to get more beer.

This is going to be interesting. Kinda wish I was here in the Hyundai...

I may be able to get some garage space this aft, failing which I think we are going to punt and head off Cape and inland early tomorrow AM.

We've rented a BEAUTIFUL cottage in Brewster, unfortunately part of the beauty is that it's essentially in a small forest clearing. I have visions of trees and tree limbs flying through the air onto and into the 993. Not going to take a chance.

So now I'm extending the offer of getting together for a drink tomorrow to those on the mainland!

Best,

Matt
