Great fix, I did a similar fix but used a nylon pin cut from the rods that come with an Edible Arrangement’s basket.

My driver side just broke - so I tried this fix. Great!!! Just saved me $40. It sticks a little in the up position, but that may work out as I use it.

Great fix - thanks.

I just did this too and works fine. Thanks Brucec59 for the great photos and instructions. I don't think I would have noticed what exactly broke.

You're welcome!

I go back and forth on this in my mind. Just the other day I was cruising eBay, and I saw the $12 cheap repros, and I thought to myself, "Self, why did you go thru all the trouble? Why not just buy a few of these? They're so cheap!" Then my self replied, "Hey dumbass, you I haven't had to touch any of the three switches since you fixed 'em, and that was 08-20-2010!"

Great DIY thanks.

I have a question. When these break, is the window still operable, just finicky? Or dead in the water?

In my case it was finicky for awhile but then eventually it wouldn't function at all.

Right now my driver's door switch is being finicky....

Thanks for this thread Bruce!
I spent a happy hour in the garage doing this job today ..

Possibly the worst part is getting the drilled hole exactly right so it pops thru correctly at the far side .. That and getting all the bits back together again , it's always the same with dang springs , they want to do their own thing!!

...But all told , job done and very satisfying.

Thanks for the DIY. Fixed two switches today! Nice way to save $100 in about 15 minutes.
