Last week I came across a black/black 1997 C4S with the sunroof/rear delete options. Since these cars come to market so infrequently, I was wondering what the consensus was with respect to value. So, the question is, "all else being equal," do 993's without the sunroof/rear seats have more, less or equal value than those that do? Here are the plus and minuses for a sunroof delete option:
Plus: Less weight; more head room, no mechanical issues, no chance for leaking, rarity of model
Minus: No open air driving

Looks like it wasn't worth enough to the bidder...

On a 15,000 mile car I think it would matter, however on a car with 75k+ you are basically cutting out any collector that would pay extra for the options. The rear seat delete is an easy retrofit as i have done this on mine. The sunroof delete seems like it would only appeal to someone who is looking to track the car. Very limited market for such options in my mind.

I would probably pay an extra $1-2K for it. If it wasn't black. I've seen these options on 3-4 other C4S cars over the past few years.
Bill is right, if the right buyer came across you might be able to get a few extra grand for it. To most people it's not that important and actually could be a detriment.

I don't care anything about this version of the rear seat delete (prefer the RS method
), but sunroof delete should be a big plus for resale.

I too have been looking at this car. I have had a few older SCs and have never been a sunroof person. So this car is appealing to me for that reason. A little concerned about the theft/unauthorized use of the car on the CARFAX but can get over it with a positive PPI . No options stick on the trunk lid. Is it possible to get a list of options from the VIN? Funny , I was going to post something about this car and saw DH1960s thread. The seller is willing to deal but no actual discussion of bottom line cost yet.
Nice looking car from the photos though
