Default Any experience with lightweight batteries?

Odyssey ER 40 caught my eye, specially 27 LBS weight. What do You think about these reduced weight batteries. Beside swapping heavy electric seats to raacing seats, this should be second considerable weight-gaining point?

I am running the PC680 (13lbs) in my 930 and it is fine, even starts the car no problem on a cold Colorado winter day. I have been running this battery for 3 years now.

I have had the 925 for two years now, no problems. Keep it on a charger when the car is in the garage.

Cheap weight loss although one probably provokes understeer by removing weight from the front ?
(early 911's had lead in their front bumpers to counter understeer :S )
I guess ideally one should try to lighten the butt before the front ?

I've had an Odyssey 680PCMJ for well over 7 years now, first in a '95 COBRA R, now in my MINI Cooper S (Which gives me a net wt. reduction of 15 lb.!) It stays on a Battery Tender Plus until needed and has yet to let me down. Great weight savings, very reliable.
Update: Here it is, almost 8 years later and the PCMJ is still in my MINI and still going strong! 15 years total!

925, occasionally on a Battery Tender Jr. Accidental discharge once. No other problems for getting close to 2 years.

Anyone using these in their 993 Daily Driver? When I say "daily," I mean sits at the airport for days at a time, then daily when I'm home...I'm due for a new battery and have been considering a lightweight.

A stopgap for the '68, until that wheelbase lengthening thing happened the following year. And mine had them. Removed them almost instantly for a fiberglass RS bumper/spoiler. Know what? Couldn't tell a difference. Though I was 18, and on a steep learning curve. But taking 10-15 lbs out of the nose of a 993? I guess if you're looking for that last .05 sec/lap in a competitive, timed competition.

(I do have a small one in the Radical; I'd say it's more because of the limited space than anything. 150 lb passenger adds about 1 sec/min of lap time.)

What about a battery that weighs only 2.5 lbs / 1.2 kg ???
or less, depending on the current draw of your starter.
Lead is dead right ??
It's called Lithium !

$2000 for a lithium battery? Wow.

Most fat-assed Americans would be better off removing the ample battery weight from their mid sections instead. Healthier, and way more cost-effective!

Their 18 isn't as strong as the 24, but cold temps aren't an issue where I'm at. Either way, this is great news as you can look in the prior posts about the new technology. Time has been on my our side. One thing to note, this has an internal regulator for charging which I've not seen on any other yet..... I plan on picking one up for Black Friday and will report my experience.

6 year old thread; so much for "new" technology.
