Default fitting rear spoiler ?

Guys, my RS M002 spoiler is one fully formed piece so if i place it onto the rear lid and screw up into it I cannot get a nut onto the reverse side as its 'inside' the formed spoiler. Do yuo have to use self tapping screws or somehting ? I would have though that that wouldn't be anywhere near secure enough ?

Also, when I place the spoiler onto the lid, the mounting surfaces aren't flush because of the old nuts that used to hold the standard motorsied spoiler. These look like they were painted at the same time as the lid so the paint has sort of melded them as if they are captive. Presumably I need to dislodge these and get them out of the way ?

any help appreciated

they certainly look to be self-tapping fasteners.
Note what seems to be an obvious taper from the lead-in to the shoulder of the screw.

good luck

ok, I am thinking some rubber washers or a strip of foam tape between spoiler and boot lid ... might be an idea to protect the 2 mating surfaces

older cars used a thin rubber gasket, 993s didn't. It's up to you

guys here is the issue

to get the spoiler flush I need to remove these 6 nuts which were necessary for the OEM standard C2 spoiler

they look like theyve been painted same time as the car

in fact they look like they are captive and actually have 2 small welds either side ???

does anyone recall these ? I tried pulling on one but it seemed stuck fast. I don't want to bend up the metal there but then if I don't remove them then the spoiler does NOT sit flush with the holes on the top and bottom ?

Take a wrench to them and turn them like they were on a bolt. Mine came right off with a twist. Also the self tapping screws Bill shows in picture in post #2 here are the same as ones that I received from Porsche dealer.
