Does anyone know if this mini jump starter will actually start a 993? It says 400 amps, and while our batteries carry a higher rating, the literature suggests it should start most cars with a depleted battery. I like the idea of the small size.
Any advice before I spend $99.
Griot's has one that is they claim is rated at 900 amps and priced at $99.99 ( http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...e=&from=Search ). Dimensions are 7" x 9" x 6 3/4." I've always had good luck with their products.
The Griot's one isn't too big (Clore has the exact same style for $65), but a shame the mini brick jumper is a no go. The idea of keeping it small enough for a glove box or tool kit was the advantage.

Most cars won't start because the battery is low on charge but not completely dead. In such cases 400 amps or even 200 amps should do the trick. If a battery is completely dead 400 amps under reasonable conditions will work. Under poor conditions such as a completely flat battery in cold weather where the jump unit is cold as well it may be a stretch for such a unit to start the car. Just an opinion from someone who has experienced Cleveland winters where Sears batteries truly die very hard deaths.
