I think I'd just order it from Sunset Porsche in Oregon. You're out of state so you get a discount and no tax ...

Better yet, order from Steve Wiener.
Just an hour ago I ordered one of two he had on the shelf.
Great guy to work with.

I know this sounds lame but you might also want to consider caring a spare battery for your car alarm, door unlock/lock key fob..

That stupid Porsche Drive Block has been the bane of my existence since 2001.

If you get stuck with a weak battery at an inopportune time, it can really suck.

...and the bane of mine since '95.
Don't get me started on the immobilizer; I just spent a lot of money replacing the ECU, the starter switch and finally the steering lock to get my car re-mobilized.
Spare battery is a good idea, but don't carry it IN the car.

We're getting off-thread here but, snce it's my thread, I'll diverge. You can find small plastic key-chain size pill or ear plug containers that are perfect for carrying a spare battery with your remote fob and key.
I believe the battery size is A23.

Doesn't unlocking the car manually with the key disable the immobilizer?

Unless you have the special code memorized (the one where you turn the key off and on in a series of sequences) and unless you are quick enough to actually be able to do it in the short time allowed..NEVER unlock the door with the key.

Someone on here said to try it.
So I did; then had to have the car towed to the Dealer.

Good to know.... and I'm learning a lot about these cars. Better get a spare remote battery along with the extra DME relay. I'll either get a magnetic box to hold the battery and attach it to a suitable place on the chassis. or stuff it in the wallet since its small enough.
