I wouldn't remove the spare as it acts as a buffer in case of a frontal impact.

Yes, from what I've heard/read, it is designed by Porsche to be used as part of the front impact crumple zone, not just a Rennlist good idea.

they are a rubber downspout. the top side can look like a plug but there is a little channel for water to find it's way out
