IIRC there were 2 street legal versions of the 993 GT1. One used to live in Houston until very recently. It was featured on Supercars Exposed at the Texas Mile.
I saw that one at Parade last year also. I believe that's a 996 GT1 though (see headlights). I think there were about 25 street versions of that. Still very cool!

yeah, thats a 996 GT1. 24 or so of them made. i think the main differences are just the door/side body work, a few panels and the lights. mechanically, im pretty certain they are about the same. oh, also the wheels. the 996 wheels are a tad more narrow and thus the 996 has better turning radius then the 993.
ive seen that car from time to time at Monticello. Here were some photos from the last time out.

^^ Greg is a VERY good photographer (not to take anything away from the inherent beauty of the car itself).
The car is being written up by Excellence. That day they did a photo shoot for the article. Ive seen a bunch of the photos from the shoot and let me tell you, they are awsome as well. Not sure you can photo that car poorly.
only 2 made. 1 in the museum, the other was restored top to bottom by Rick Deman, and wow, is she on the money.
