rrr just one of those diy days when all seems to go wrong. My factory oil filter wrench got stuck on the new small filter that is on the engine. In my attempt to free the wrench i dented the end of the filter ie the flat bottom got pushed in. did not have time to drive the car but when i thought more about it, I wondered if that could create an obstruction? What do these filters look like inside is that a critical area for oilflow? I will replace it if necessary? i have done this diy many times with no prob rrrrr

I would not worry at all. If the filter was side mounted I would be a little concerned bacuase sometimes thay have an anti drain valve in the bottom, and I suppose that you could damage that.

Eliminate the concern and install a fresh filter.

I'd have to agree - that's even the cheap filter, so why risk it?

That thing is usually a pain to deal with.

 

Thought about it last night. Ordered new one from sunset, will have it friday! In time to go see the races at njmp this weekend.
