I never had a front plate on the front of any of my other "sport" cars. It was always a good fall back ticket, if I got pulled over for a moderate speeding charge. A few years ago, I got a no front plate ticket, while parked on the street. Ever since then, I have a ugly front plate attached.

In New York State, a $60 ticket, with mandated surcharges...can cost $200.

+1...I got pulled over once for 11 over. Cop told me "I'll let you off of the speeding charge, so instead I'll cite you for no front plate..."

So, basically, if I had a front plate, I probably would have got the speeding ticket

Tony, are you serious? That sucks! Been driving my 993 pretty much weekly for 7 years, even got pulled over twice for other infractions and but never a front plate ticket. It's a rare thing I'd say that you were pulled for it in our state. What were the specific details like when and where and why?

9.30 am, I was on 50E getting ready to EXIT on 197 which takes you to Baysox Stadium where PCA was running an Autocross. The state trooper was on the shoulder and had just finish writting someone a ticket when I passed him to get on the off ramp. Before I knew it he was on my tail with lights flashing. I was probably going 50mph at the time. When he approached me he asked if I knew why I was being pulled over. Didn't have a clue and gave him the confused looked. He said no worries, you ain't speeding, it's for your front plate. Once I saw him on the shoulder I should of never exited.....

Tony,

It is illegal to run with no front plate, so it's only a matter of time if your front end is naked. I've been pulled over twice in the Miata by state troopers in the past six months (both times running southbound on I-83 two miles north of the city line) and found out that they do keep records of no-plate infractions. Paid a fine for both but figured the nominal fine was worth the four plus years that I've been sans plate. The first time I ever got a ticket for not having a front plate was way back in 1986 or so. The Baltimore county cop whipped his car around when he saw my 1984 VW GTI, pulled me over, said "Nice car. Where's your front plate?" I do believe he let me go with a warning.

Yeah Mark, I know it's illegal, it's just the first time that I've been pulled over. ..since I've owned the pcar.

In my DD I got a $70 ticket from the meter maid in DC a few months back. Forgot to put the tag on the dash, and since I was parked on a broken meter she had to get me. That car now has a front tag but I still have to put one on my other sedan.

When I did my euro turbo front bumper a few months ago I didn't want to ruin the look so I did the www.altecproducts.com Show-N-Go (motorized version) hidden plate. I just pop it up when I leave for a drive.

That looks cool - so do you flip it up everytime you see a cop?

I see a lot of familiar faces/cars out there from the Chesapeake region. I really wanted to make it to this one but, already had plans to go to the beach.

Do you get to the Potomac AX's a lot? I was at a bunch last year but have missed both due to being out of town (one i was stuck in Atl airport!).

Who took FTD? You going to be at the one this saturday in sykesville?

Maryland is going nuts to try and cover their budget shortfall...

Say 'hello' if you see a black 993 at the courthouse on August 4th.

Beach..ah yes wish I had gone this weekend, last year this time I was at Rohom...

I used to go quite often in 05-07, but this is the first one I attended since then. I only went as an excuse to get out and drive.

Sykesville, hmm..another reason to drive, maybe I will. PM Tony P for the resutls, I left before the end.
