Default FS: 1998 Porsche C2S 3.8L Silver/Boxster Red

I’ve made the difficult decision to sell my 993 to help finance a house renovation for my expanding family. Car as been owned by Rennlist members nearly exclusively and I’ve been lucky enough to spend a couple years with what I feel is a special car. As the original owner pointed out to me, the silver/red was the color combo of the first Porsche…and this being the last year of the air-cooled Carrera I think makes for nice bookends.

70,xxx miles.

Standard features:
Codes: CO2 X54 X70 X71 X97 X98 159 235 329 408 437 438 448 454 490 650 692 936 981 983 09991

Arctic Silver
Boxster Red Full “Special Leather”
Power Seat Package
Motor Sound Package
Hi-Fi Sound Package
Remote CD Changer
Porsche Floor Mats
Aluminum/Leather Shifter/Brake Handle
Aluminum Gauges

Modifications:
3.8L Porsche OEM engine upgrade (at 19,457 miles) - hydraulic lifters retained
LWF and RS Clutch
Adjustable sway bars (25.5mm front, 21.0mm rear)
Custom exhaust tips
Eibach springs
OMP aluminum pedals and dead pedal
3M protective clear coat on front bumper, lower spoiler, headlights
Fiske 17” Mach 5 wheels, Yokohama AVS Sports 245’s front, 315’s rear

History:
Car was purchased new in 2/1998 by Vinny ’98 3.8 C2S who owned it for ~10 years (up to 63,300 miles). Wonderful Rennlister with many colorful stories regarding Porsches and his 993. You can search his many posts on Rennlist – he was a PCA driving instructor. He did use the car on the track, but noted that the majority of the miles were highway miles.

Second owner owned the car for 3 months (up to 66,350 miles), then as I understand it he found a twin turbo he could not resist.

Third owner (acastell) a fellow Rennlist member owned the car for 1 month (up to 67,200 mile) then sold to me. He had three 993’s and decided economy dictated liquidating one or two. His purchase of the car are detailed in posts here on the Rennlist forum. I should add acastell is an excellent Rennlister and it was my pleasure to buy the car from him.

Full Disclosure:
Car had one “off” at the track which the original owner Vinny described as a slow roll backward into a tire wall. Car was checked by a Porsche specialist near the track and got the OK to continue to run the next day. Car ran fine. All damage was replaced with Porsche parts by Lynmor Motors. I have emails Vinny sent me (after he no longer owned the car so I regarded them as non-biased) that detail the “off”, and provide additional information on his perspective and relationship with the car and I would be happy to forward them.

Additional Info:
I have all maintenance receipts dating back to when the car was new. All service up to 63K done by Lynmor Motors, NY. I also have all original documentation, including window sticker, sales receipt, letter to owner, Porsche literature, etc.

Full service done at 63,317 miles
New Bosch battery at 69,000 miles
Clean CarFax

If the "off" is confirmed with what you are disclosing ( I assume it is from what you are writing), this is a nice deal for an amazing car. I love the color combo. GL with the sale. You will miss this car!

Love the color combo. It reminds me of my Dad's '63 Mercedes 190. The Boxster Red interior looks like my Chestnut interior.

Thanks for the positive comments. I've received some interest...but nothing firm yet. I'm really hoping the car will go to a Rennlist member, but I may need to expand to CL and other sites at some point.

Did Porsche really make 3.8L engines for the 993 series?

I saw your car when it was in for a PPI at RMG last week. I had forgotten how beautiful it was. Congratulations on the sale and to the lucky buyer.
