I Love it! I laughed out loud when I read this! Keep it coming.

My feelings also. I had a Interstate Battery in my car for 4 years before it went dead. No leaks! I had a Red Top Optima for 12 months???? I should have stayed with the standard type of battery.

I've had good service from Optima batteries in my 911SC and now in my 993. If you buy from Costco, they offer free warranty replacement, no pro-rata, for the first three years.

I've had lead-acid batteries spit up in my 912 and 911T, causing damage to the trunk floor pan, creating a place for rust to start.

One thing I am noticing is the variety of opinions regarding batteries. I have had terrible luck with Interstates - 3 years max. Die Hards have been pretty good. Best battery I ever had was the OE battery in my Civic - 6 years with no problems. I am hoping for the best with this Optima.

It probably has alot to do with starting/driving habits.

Just switched it to Dura Last from AutoZone...will see how long this one will last.

I do not know a Duracell from a copper-top but I know a guy who does and he swears by Deka. I bought one. I have not had it long enough to give an opinion about longevity but they do come with a 70 month warranty. Here is the link:

Agreed. Going to give the OPTIMA a try. I'll report back if falls short of expectations

Gone through two Optima's, average life is 2 years, conclusion : They are POS. That one would not hold a charge more than 2 days. Went back to a standard acid battery, car sits for 2 weeks, cranks like crazy to start even after 2 weeks of draw!

I would never spend the extra $$$ on an Optima again.

Ive only had the deep cycle yellow top in my VWs and they have been great, 5-6 years. going for one in the 993 too. wet cell one already has caused some rust in the floor plan. I need to fix that.

I definitely appreciate all the opinions. Based on the fact that I could get the OPTIMA cheaper than the lead acid, I thought i'd give it a try.

I bought my 993 6 years ago and it had what looked like a brand new Optima red top. The same battery is still going strong today. It sits on a Battery Tender during the long cold Nebraska winters and always works like a champ in the spring. Never a problem starting spring, summer, or fall when the car sits for a couple of weeks without being driven.

Don't forget that you get to pay extra for the privilege. I bailed on them after my 2nd. bad one. Bought a standard NAPA battery (with a $30 off coupon, my mom would be proud ) and it's been perfect.

OPTIMA arrived today. $85 delivered to my doorstep thanks to Rennlist Group buy. I love this place.

Direct fit, no modification.

Now we'll see how it does over time.

My Optima lasted 7 years. I replaced it with another Red Top due to the no leakage factor.

I keep a Battery Tender on it when parked as the 993s seem to have a high parasitic drain.

I've had good luck with Optima's once I understood more about their characteristics.

To get maximum life from them, they must be attached to an AGM-compatible trickle charger when the car is stored for the winter. I get 5-7 years out of them, now,...

CTEK makes a charger that works quite well.

Is the group buy still open? I've had a red top in my 993 for several years and want to get another. Unfortunately, it appears that Optima does not make the "reversed" pole battery that I presently have. Is the 35 the proper model for the 993?

Thank you.
