The WRX was fun but super cheap inside.

Maybe the Legacy GT

Owned an Impreza and have to agree. Cheap plastics, thin paint and even thinner sheet metal. The 4wd was nice though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that things this...I"ve never seen a car get so many dings/dents/etc. as my 2003 WRX...it's a fun car and gets great gas mileage when cruising on the highway. My only real issue with it is how little power it has off boost. The newer versions use a 2.0+ engine which helps...mine has a 1.8L so very little torque.

It's hard to beat the deals you can get on the 3 series BMW's...I would give them a good look.

Mazdaspeed3, Mini if you can live with 2 doors, E36 M3 sedan, E46 330i ZHP. all those will fit into $15K, some will be newer than others. All fun cars, some more stealth than others.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. A lot of the more sporty stuff seems older and or higher miles.

I guess I'm looking at the most interesting of the newer ('06? up), safe "economy" cars. $15K is the outer stretch asking price. I'd be happier with an actual spend of around $12K or even less. At this price, A3 and TSX all seem to be high miles or rough. Today, my thoughts are on E46 and Impreza, dents and all...

Don't worry about the dents. It's a fun beater. Go ahead and park it into that tight spot at the mall during Christmas shopping. Have the joy about a low cost DD is saying oh well with no loss of sleep.

Loved my Impreza, but do yourself a favor and try the carseats in before you buy. Was ok for my wife, but I was kissing the windshield with a child behind the driver.

PS. Try the GS430 and the E55 will be off your list in seconds. E55 gets 13 mpg in the real world. Ask any previous owner. Don't get me wrong ... I love the E55 but I want a DD to drive to everywhere but the shop. You can beat a Lexus!
