Unhappy Selling my 993.....

Couldn't be more bummed about it ..... But the wife and I are having a kid and need a 4 door to replace the 993. Thank you everyone here on the greatest car forum on the net. Rennlist has been an invaluable resource for me over the years and I have gotten to know a bunch of great people here. I will be back in a p-car as soon as possible. Thank you all again.

The car is posted in the for sale forums should you be interested.

Man I'm gonna miss her....

I'd keep it and buy a van. Don't do something you'll regret later. I bought a decent van for work for around $8k.

CONGRATULATIONS!

You gotta do what's right for you and your family, just make sure you have looked into all of the angles.

The Porsche makes a great family car if you have small children. My kids LOVE to ride in it. It's tough for the first year though because a rear facing seat is way less practical. As others will suggest, maybe a less expensive 3rd car will do for a short time.

Also, if it's your first, you probably don't yet understand what a difficult, yet rewarding time it is to have a baby in the house. You WILL appreciate getting to drive the 993 to the store at ridiculous hours to get diapers, formula, etc. Even taking it work to blow off steam does wonders.

I've had sports cars or coupes all of my life, until I had three kids. Then I decided that I should get a four door so all 5 of us could go somewhere together in case we couldn't take the SUV for some reason. I bought an Lancer Evolution and drove it for a year without ONCE having the whole family in it. So, sold it and bought the 993 and never looked back.

For what you pay in taxes alone on a new/newer family hauler, you can go a long way toward a responsible 3rd car. Take your time and evaluate the possibilities.

PS: Chris, if you spend less time building fish habitats and more time building Turbos, you might spend more time in the P-car! Has your son even felt the rush of torque from Twin Turbos yet??? My first time in a 930 was when I was 6 years old and I still remember it over 30 years later.

Chris- Thank you! The wife and I are excited too.

Ghotiman/VNTGSPD- I hear ya I really do. Been kicking this around with the wife for over a year. It's just the right move for us right now. But the good news is that she is just as bummed as I am, so getting a new one when the time is right won't be an issue.

Congratulations on the upcoming addition to your family. It's a tough decision you are making but doing what's right for the family is #1. Once things settle down, you'll probably have another 993 sooner than you think. Best of luck.

Daughter is an architect and son is nearly an engineer/pilot. Do whatever it takes-the road seems long yet is incredibly short. Another car is right around the corner.....

Definitely congrats! Are you sure you can't keep it? I have two small kids (2 & 4) and wifey never wanted me to sell the Porsche (bought prior to having kids).

Do what you need to do, but also consider the option of not selling!

Congrats Dan, Been there done that. I sold my 85 Carrera Factory Turbo look when my 2nd daughter came. I think her older sister was sadder than I was when I sold it. She was only 3 1/2 yrs old but she loved car.

You'll be back sooner than you'll know.
