Nice story. I know there are a lot more 993 drivers who have much more than 100K on their cars though.

Cool story.

Next time I am dumped, I will take couple months off and see the 4 corners of the US in the 993.

BTW, at 91K miles, his engine ate itself with a stretched timing chain? Are these cars that crappy?

I wondered that myself. Maybe he didn't spend the $$$ on the big-mile services? Hmmmmm.....

Cool story, but I also agree with the other posts. Was he handling the service as expected, or did he drive the car all those miles just changing fluids?

Classic story... From someone who's been thinking about doing just this (but in a Pcar), this goes into the "F*ck Yeah!" category!

Will be on the treadmill/elliptical tonight with a 60lb pack for 1-2 hrs. And since I'm up that way (making sure we keep it "on topic" for Pcars here...) , I might make Mike J's 5th Annual pcarworkshop Shop Day and BBQ - June 26, 2010 up in Vancouver.

I see it differently. He acts very irresponsible in my opinion. He takes a 4 year trip using money he doesn't have.
Owes money on a car. Owes money on a house. If he pays everyone back, Great, I'll retract my comment.
If he declares bankruptcy and ducks his debt he's an irresponsible dirt-bag with a goofy hair cut.

If he declares bankruptcy and ducks his debt he's acting just like the U.S. government and how a very significant amount of Americans act.

A majority of pre-'84 (and definitely pre-'80) 911s ate their top ends from crappy chain tensioners/timing chain issues.

+1. He's just lived more than most Americans will ever see in their lifetimes.

$hit... he did it all wrong... I'd sell all of my stuff, buy a Corolla and "get" a bunch of nice Colombian girls for a year... and then I'd rent a Lamborghini for a week with the leftover $$... I know... I know... my mind is in the gutter...

Cool story; reminds me that I need to drive the 993 more even if it isn't beautifully polished and perfectly clean.

Sounds more like the guy has major depression to me

Run away, go in debt, carry a gun, get arrested, live in motels. Blow up an expensive car.

I can think of a lot more effective ways to carry out a true adventure.
