Do you mind sharing how much it runs to have the injectors clean up?
At what mileage would you recommend to have it done to see some worthwhile improvements?

Thanks.

I feel at 100k miles they (injectors) do benefit with cleaning and balancing.

RC Engineering charges $24 each for injector cleaning an flow balancing.

Very interesting project as I mull over the options for an engine upgrade. I'd like to tackle this project too. There is one thing (at least) that I don't understand. There seems to be some discrepancies in the claims about expected power gains. If 300 hp ish is attainable with a chip then why is only 305 - 310 hp expected with RS cams and RS intake valves? I would have expected more than that but then again maybe its more than pure peak hp to gain. It hardly seems worthwhile unless you need to do the valve guides anyway. Perhaps the next step up is a really big one.

No posts in a while due to slow progress. Had some work issues, and life in general, not to mention the summer heat.

I got the piston's back from Steve, after having the intake pockets machined for the RS valves. I am on schedule for some serious progress this fall.

I think the quote of $24 per injector sounds about right. They came back looking brand new, and had a printout on before and after. I would think that it would be very beneficial for higher miles.

I never bought into the idea that you could get 300hp with just a chip, but hey. I think it is a combination of engine work, exhaust, and chip. I could probably get another 15hp with a racing exhaust set up, but couldn't street it.

Thanks for all the interest, more to come.

Thats all true,....even with the good race muffler, its pretty loud for street use.

When I get it done, I would be glad to give rides, even let a fellow Rennlister take her for a spin.

OK, so I haven't posted in a while. I have managed to work in some chunks of time and make some progress. The short block is complete, and I am working on the wiring harness and V-ram with all of it's vacuum lines. I started with a short block, so everything from here out will be new territory for me. I need to make sure I get the distributor installed right, if there are any tricks to getting the right TDC.

Thanks for tagging along.
