And then there is the ashtray light. I cut mine out a little while ago to make room for something special in the ashtray assembly. My dash lights might have failed after that but I don't recall directly since I don't drive the car much. But in the act of troubleshooting this issue I reconnected the wires, but it had no effect on the circuit.

I wonder if I somehow damaged the R24 Relay?
Hi TRM,

I must confess that I did not really understand why my radio created a faulty connection avoiding the instruments lights to work correctly. This said, the relay was not blown, the lighting worked after I disconnected the radio wire from the ashtray light.
The coincidence with your problem and the ashtray light is heckling!
I didn't find any way of checking the relay. My solution was to swap it with another one.
