The AD08 are lasting MUCH longer than the Falken Azenis 615. I used them both on the track and I am impressed on how long they last for the grip you get. They are becoming more and more popular and I have heart no complaints. They are very predictable at the limit too which I like on the track. I will get them again ...

I am running 225 / 295 on 996 Turbo wheels (8"/11") on my wide body 4S and might go a little bit wider in the front the next time.

Yes, the Falkens wear rating is 200 so the rears are not going to last too long. Were you running RT 615, or the new compound RT 615K? I just put the new K version on the rears. They say the K's are much better under heat.

How do the AD08's compare with the Sumo HTRZ 3's?

I am sure the Yokos are on a whole different level than Sumis for grip.

agreed
my AD07s were much better than the korean tires.
now if Yoko would only re-start manfactuing the 08's, see my post page 2. I could confirm your hypothesis.

Primary Yoko advantage = they are not nearly as multiple lap, heat sensitive as the 'Kooks or Sumi's I've used for track days.

AD08 are 140 tread wear. So far mine are wearing very very well. Better then other tires I have had on the car.

LOL, it's like comparing a 993 GT2 to a early 996, they are so different, you can't compare, but to say the 993 is better.

Yes, the ADO08 are better everywhere, except for price. On a 60sec Auto-X course they are worth 3-5 sec over the Sumi's.

Mike, I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. But it's not 3-5 seconds on a 60-second course, I don't think. A set of race tires will outrun a set of OK street tires by 2-3 seconds (PAX agrees with that if you compare street tire and street prepared classes). I think there's a 1-2 second advantage between something excellent like AD08 and something average like Sumitomo 3s.

BTW, if you're ever up this way in the summer, come co-drive my car

I have sorta. I had the AD07's and they are the stickiest tire's I've had so far for warm/hot days and really nice in the rain. However the Dizerras are much better in cool weather(I drive on them all year round) and last longer, oh and are lower priced. The AD07 got terribly loud as they reached their tread life expectancy. The Dizerras are an 8.5 out of 10 on stickiness and the AD07's are 9.5 so far in my book. Both are better in performance and tread life than the stock Pirelli's.

No K. For my street car I will go Sumis next time and for the DE car it will be the AD08. Worth every dollar.

I am running the Sumi's currently and they wear very well. Just would like better performance. If not raced what might be the streetlife for A08's.....

For me they were, however, I did go up a size as well. When I had the Sumi's on, I would be in the top 4. Really only doing well when it was wet (C4).

After getting the AD08's, I have been undefeated all year, & 1-1.5 sec faster then every one else, even been faster then the next class up. For me, they are awesome, & very very good tire!

I actually ran my 993 this year on ancient PS/2s (6 years old) and even more ancient Continentals (8.5 years old) just for the hell of it since I get my fun elsewhere in different car and on Hoosiers Won my class fairly easily and managed to PAX in top 10 of 60-70 cars. But, yep it was interesting compared to previous cab on Azenis. Next year I should be on R1Rs for a few events, we'll see how that goes.

The reason I actually did not go with better tires is that current GF started autocrossing this year and did about 7 events in this 993. I wanted her to learn to be smooth on crappy tires. It helps get the perspective. One time she was in Miata on Hoosier the noises she made were worth the price of flat spots
