Brad Penn oil
#16
When I purchased my 95 C2 it was running 5W-40 Shell Helix Ultra. It's also used by a trusted local shop. It's time for an oil change and as I read Mr. Navarro's analysis of many oils he's tested he seems to have a high regard for Brad Penn. I didn't see where he tested the Shell and haven't found much on the Shell except that the Ferrari guys like it. My Porsche has only 20,000 miles and other than leaks that just started from the lower valve covers I don't seem to have any problems. Should I change to Brad Penn?

Their is nothing wrong with red line I saw that Brad Penn was set up for older cars they have ZDDP in their oil an a lot of new oils do not have that anymore. they have high zinc and phosphorous additive I do not know that much about oil but that should help the engine to last longer. What I am looking for is anti-wear protection for our older cars. We are so lucky to get to drive them every day I want my cars to last for many years. Vernon.

I'm sure Brad Penn is fine, but you're already using Redline, so you have nothing to worry about in the ZDDP dept. - and considering the heat these engines generate, I personally wouldn't consider using anything less than a full synthetic. So why go out of your way to change to something with lesser characteristics? Just curious.

Thanks to you guys I have now seen the light so I will stay with RedLine! Rennlist is such a great place to find out everthing on our cars. I do a lot of work myself on them but I did not know that much about oil so it is great to hear from all of you about this. Thank You for your help.Vernon.

And the Brad Penn oil is above that, hence the butt saving notice in their website. I don't have to worry, the cat bypasses fix the potential clogging issue for me.

Steven, are you still running this in your car? I just switched to it this past weekend and so far so good.
BTW, I was at a shop today and saw the article about the KW V3's featuring your car (European something-or-other Magazine.) Very cool to be flipping the pages while waiting and suddenly seeing your car...

Still running it, did a stint with the Redline, but was not happy. Back to the expensive stuff. It really is great oil.
It's a good article, I have bought about 10 copies of it.....

i was getting higher engine temperatures than I got with the Motul, I may have a look at the Redline Racing line, seems to have some better heat characteristics, closer to the Motul, The Motul here is just a little too expensive.
