First-time buyer advice 993 (C4S vs Turbo)

They will feel nothing alike. Not so subtle to where you will need back to back test drives.
I made this choice before and I went with a 4S over the turbo, I would do the same again.
I like to drive in the upper rpm range and the TT is way too “on/off” tourqie for my taste.
Major improvement over the 930 in this respect but still not there yet.
With nice TT money, I was able to get a mint 4S. Added bonus, but not the reason.
Now if I could have a NA 993 with the horse power of a TT and 500 pounds lighter, I would be in heaven. I sold my 4S with this goal in mind.
Most people call the TT an upgrade; I may be a lost soul.

OK, thanks for this. Sticking with the C4S for now, are there any options that you would definitely be looking for in a C4S (that you would otherwise add if not included)?

Sport seats. I briefly drove a car today that didn't have them. After spending almost two hours prior to that, then an hour afterward, in my car................no way, no how would I be without them.

Thanks. What about Litronics headlights and a Bilstein suspension system (should this be adjustable? I don't know whether the PSS9 or the PS10 is..)? I hear these two mentioned a lot.

You can add HID lights for less than 100 USD. If you drive at night any HID light will be an upgrade. A PSS9 or 10 would be a great plus for me. Both performance and look will be much better and when the previous owner already spend the money ...

dude you're very polite and everyone here can sense that and wants to answer your questions. but first you got to do some reading on this forum. just read the last 50 pages of this forum and every question, i mean every question, will be answered. all the issues you care to ask now have been visited and re-visted. as for original question: if you can afford both, i would get a tt and if there's a particular car you're wondering about, you're welcome to send me a link and i'll help you decide. there's a guy on the tt forum that's selling his polar blue tt with bbs e28 wheels for 46k. it's a steal and i would buy it in a heartbeat. he bought it last fall for a similar price when the economy was in a tailspin and the world was going to end ---- jump on his car.

As this is your first Porsche I would highly recommend that you do not buy any car sight unseen. I would also advise you to focus on cars that have maintenance records and have been well maintained, and better yet if you can talk to the prior owner (if a dealer sold car) or buy private party. These cars are now 13-17 years old and some of the wear items are not necessarily from high mileage/use but from age, and you can easily spend 5-10k in the first year trying to make a poorly maintained car "right".
Having owned 3 of them over the past 10 years, and recently selling a cab, I'm a believer that there is no such thing as a "cheap Porsche"...even if you DIY most repairs parts are expensive and so are major repairs, which is usually the case with any older European car. That said, a well maintained car that has the right set of mods can still be a relative bargain. Good luck with the search!
