Default Motorsound option and LPMM

Does the motorsound option have different mufflers?

If so, has anybody done the LPMM mod on a porsche with this option?

Thanks you in advance

I had Fister Stage 1 on my motorsound muffler...its more like 1.5 because the internals are different. I just got my stage III's which are a complete modification.

I have the Stage II on my Motorsound. The internal pipe is slightly larger than the non-motorsound mufflers

Yep...I've got the Motorsound option and LPMM....Pulled those suckers off, printed an illustration from one of the threads here, took it all to my local welder and he did the LPMM...I like the sound...Nice bark on start up, deep idle, noticable but not offensive growl up to 3500 RPM (It does turn heads on the street at 2000 RPM in first gear) but isn't that noisy in the cabin on the highway. For 2 hours of my labor and $150 to the welder (Includes the cost of stainless pipe), it was an easy and inexpensive DIY modification.

Thanks! I want to mod the exhaust, but in the past I have always gone to far and hated the sound.

I will start with the LPMM mod at my local shop

FisterD: You have done a lot of these....

After your mod on the stage 3, does it matter if you have the motorsound mufflers or stock? Does your internal mod gut both?

What would you advise ? I was thinking about yours until I found out I had the motorsounds. Your thoughts?

I'll chime in - Sell the motorsounds (they are worth a premium), get a standard set and send 'em to Darin. Better yet, if Darin has a set already, just buy from him already modded, then sell your motorsounds. No down time.

+1 on Bruce's suggestion or buy a set of FDs and keep the motorsounds in case you ever decide to sell. IIRC, you were asking about modding vs. keeping the car stock in relation to value not too long ago.

I did... The consensus was exhaust and suspension don't have a great impact on resale value.

+1 Word for word my impressions of my car. It had the mods when I bought it and I do like it. I don't even recode the radio after maintenance any more because I just listen to the engine and exhaust--beautiful!!

For Stage III modification, the internals are removed and the inside is repiped with new stainless. This means all Stage IIIs are the same after the modifcation, whether they started life as Motorsound mufflers or not.

Suspension is a bonus since it has to be replaced given the poor quality of OEM. Mufflers don't have to be replaced and motorsound is a factory option that some people seek out. Not everyone wants a loud muffler setup, especially if on a relatively stock car. Buy buy whatever mufflers you want and keep your motorsound mufflers in case you decide to sell. I wouldn't modify your motorsounds.

Interesting option.

Any ideas on this? I have motorsounds on my 32k mi. car, wonder what I could get for them?

Does someone have a easier way of getting the clamps off? I'd love to find a set of reversing pliers to make it easier.
