Yes. I have a color chart from Porsche that shows the color K6 as "aventurine green metallic."

Nice job Dan.

But can we trust the American version of the brochure as the definitive authority on coloUr?

I, myself, can't spell to save my life It's just something about Aventurine misspellings that selectively bothers me

Something just occurred to me. The only people who really care are a few of us Aventura/Aventurine owners.

Cool! So they did have two official names.

Hey it's the little things that matter - thanks for posting Edgy.

You have slate gray as an official metallic colour in 1994;

In 1995 the UK chart has seven metallic colours:
A8 polar silver
D3 iris blue
F8 midnight blue
H8 arena red
K1 turqouise
K6 aventura
Z8 black

I wonder if the US was simply different from the UK, or the chart changed for everyone from '94 to '95.

C'mon - let the anorak inside you speak out!

Mystery solved?

I contacted Porsche in Stuttgart and evidently,
Aventurine was paint utilized exclusively on Left Hand Drive vehicles,
while
Aventura was specially mixed for Right Hand Drive cars.

"Adventurine" != Aventura?

That's hilarious!

Cristel993, please allow me to push you (and others too probably) over the edge...

I'm new to this color (or is it colour?), but I know what I like, and I like it with a 'd' in it. Seems more... ummm... bold?
Without the 'd', I get this mental image of snakes or something serpentine.

Besides, should made up words like aventurine, accenture, verizon, or viagra be held to such high standards? Aren't they really just "un-words" and subject to interpretation/mis-spellings?

Wouldn't the following words have worked just as well:
adventurine
occenture
verzion
viagara

If they had used these versions in the first place, we would never have known any different.

Can't we all just get along?

Please don't pounce; just having fun here...

As Bart said, it's not a mad-up word.

However, I'm pretty sure that Porsche will soon come up with Viagra Blue car. It will probably be popular color on a Panamera.

Dang! My bad.
This forum is very educational. I always learn the most interesting things.

Ignore my attempt at humor; I'm going to go out to the garage and sit in my 993 for a while.

Black is such a simple color - more my speed.

Cheers,
BB

That's right, I will not let the AVENTURINE thread die! We are a passionate and unrelenting cult! I present to you the proof of what Aventurine is - is Porker form, no less!
