Talking After Several Months of Searching... New Wheels!

I love my black twists! But I was looking for something different. Looked at Kinesis, Speedline, BBS, 996TT wheels, but at the end I decided to go with something more simple - the 997 Carrera III 18" (the Carrera 4 version - pretty much plug n play for 993 WB cars).

This is the end result and I'm loving it! These wheels are so much lighter than the solid spoke twists - it's unbelievable! Sorry for the quality of the photos but I didn't bring a real camera - too busy driving and having fun...

PS: Yeah, the steering wheel crest is silver and it's spectacular

Outstanding! They look great. So, if I begin my search for 997 Carerra III, 18", I have no worries about offset, need for spacers, etc. Just bolt them on my 97 C4S ?

I respect everyone's personal opinion regarding wheels, but your post, makes my decision easy......with one caveat......will they suffice for DE, Track Days, assuming I run street tires? Are they strong enough. Looking forward to meeting you at Rennlist gathering in Montreal.

Clean looking. I really like your interior. Is that a GPS in front of the ash tray?

Love those wheels. Classis Porsche. I have those in 19" on my 987S.

Amazing how a new modern wheel looks so good on a 993.
Really nice wide open design to show of the brakes.

Very nice--I really like the 5-spoke designs on a 993.

There are two kinds of Carrera III wheels that I know of - the Carrera 2 and the Carrera 4 version. The C2 are 18x8 and 18x10. But I wanted "elevenzies" and went with the C4 version which is 18x8 and 18x11. he offsets are 58 in the front and 51 in the rear. You could add a 4-6mm spacer (paging Bill V ) if you want to fill up the wheel arches a little more, but I didn't find it necessary. I have stock size tires on them 225/40 and 285/30 (boy are those Michelins grippy!) and there is no rubbing. You can go with wider rubber in the front and rear if you want even more grip.

As far as strength, any OEM wheel is good for the track. These are light, made by BBS for Porsche and I have absolutely no reservations.

See you in Montreal

Yes, hardwired Garmin Nuvi. attached to the ashtray by the antenna. you can fold it when not in use. You will need an external antenna if you place it in that location however. I like that spot a lot, because it's not in your face, especially if you use it at night.

I honestly don't know if it's better, I love my twists and have decided to keep them. But I really like how light these wheels feel and they really showcase the brakes.

Didn't lose a cap, these are on just temporary, I'll be getting either silver crests or 4S caps in the very near future. Don't like the gold emblems on this particular wheel.
