My monitors would not set after numerous drive cycles. Local dealer could not get them to set and could not find anything wrong with the smog related systems on the car. Same for an independent Porsche shop. At my wits end I gambled and pulled the DME and sent it to Specialized ECU repair in Florida. My monitors are now always set and I passed my emissions test easily. 800 bucks but well worth it to me. No more monitor problems.

using Porsche testers or they didn't fully understand the driving procedure as exemplified in this thread by some.
Now days with mostly newer Porsches being serviced by dealers few of the dealer techs are knowledgeable about
the early cars. This is also the case for many independents especially ones that lack the Porsche testers.
As can be determined from reading many posts in this thread, most have basically no problems once the procedure
is understood. The 993 has basically no issues with the monitors being set with the exception of the SAI problem
which can be determined easily as a CEL usually is present. The Rennlist members can always provide guidance
as has been apparent reading this thread.

The dealer I brought my car to turned out to be a joke. No help at all. The independent was not even aware of the drive cycle procedure. My options where I live are very limited. I gambled and fortunatlely succeeded. That being said I think I am going to sell my car as these types of issues are stressful and I am getting far too old to deal with this type of crap.

While that is certainly possible, I prefer to believe that I have a unique vehicle that was used by the stuttgartian SW coders to test the beta version of a single drive cycle readiness code setting process.............................

MAC993,
Get you car registered anyplace outside of California where the government feels operating a sports car is a privilege that should not be conferred to 993 owners.
Andy :-)
