HEads Up on Wheel Availability (Fuchs)
Just a quick heads up that Fuchs Racing in the USA is currently in preproduction on the classic Fuchs drop forged, single piece, windmill wheels with a variety of diameters, widths, offsets, and center colors. Expect to see something definitive on their website soon. FuchsRacing.com
They will be making them the old fashioned way--drop forged (not friction welded) from billet aluminum, with CNC machining for the final look. They will be powdercoating the centers in a variety of colors.
They are similar in appearance to the new Sport Classic 911 wheels that Porsche recently introduced on their 911 Sport Classic limited edition cars, except the Fuchs ones will be forged, instead of pressure cast as the Sport Classics are. Here's a notional look of the Sport Classics on my car to give you a little idea of what is going to be available.

The 'new' Sport Classic wheel is available to buy from the Porsche dealers (well they are in the UK) and list at £3200. (You may have to quote a Sport Classic chassis number though!)
Fronts are 8.5Jx19 rears 11.5Jx19 with offsets to suit widebody car (ET55 & 67)

Graham, are you thinking about a set of these for your Speedster? I think it would look amazing with a set finished in the same matte silver/gray as the grille/mirrors.

Wow, big bucks. Not surprised, as it costs money to do things right, just an observation. I think the challenge is going to be finding a market sweet spot for these.
All the pre-964 old timers wouldn't need to run any bigger than 16X8,9's/. These are still availble, are of top quality, and can be refinished to 'new' for a lot less than 5K. And they'll be factory wheels.
The 964 crowd is going to struggle w/ wheels that cost 30% of their car's value.
993 owners are on the edge and can arguably get away with back-dating, or going with yet more modern wheels. Here too, for that kind of cash some of the modern 3 piece wheels will be an easier sell.
As for later models, well, they can go factory (albeit not forged) with new factory versions. Oftentimes the factory wheels can be had at significant savings as take-offs. We'll see how popular the new versions turn out to be.
Nice, niche idea though. Anyone who ever loved their Fuchs on pre-964's has had the same thought. Now that they are available, will be interesting to see who will pony up the $$$. I blew my wad on e-88's...
Best,
Matt

I don't know... I should probably withold judgement, but who cares what I say, anyway? From the one photograph on their site, the proportions are all wrong. Unless the proportions are right, it will probably just look like any other 5-spoke knock-off.
