Unbeievably Squeaky Dash
Chaps,
I am new to the forum so please be gentle with me . . . this is post two of two.
I have a 96MY 993C4 with 80k miles on the clock.
I have an unbelievably noisy squeaky dash when the ambient temperature is above 15 degrees C. It sounds like plastic rubbing on plastic and it comes from somewhere down near the bottom of the front windscreen. I have sprayed silicon spray in the vacinity of the noises but it has not hit the target. I could turn the radio up but that ruins the pleasureable experience of listening to the flay six!
Anyone else seen this?
Thanks,
Jon

I'd have to say that it's probably not your dash, but the windshield itself. These cars are known for squeaky windshields (it only sounds like it's from the dash.)
There are several fixes, one of which is something that was once offered by Porsche. Do a search and you'll find a lot of suggestions. I had a person familiar with 993s take out the windshield and then fix it (and it's still squeak free.) The cost was $150.

Standard 993 issue. The solution is motorcycle chain wax sprayed under he rubber seal on the outside of the windshield. Do this every three month. No noise. Search for details.

Jon - Welcome. You will get a lot of very good advice on here and as ever the diagnosis is 'spot on'. This can happen if you have had a new screen and it has not been fitted correctly - some suggestion that aftermarket screens are a very slightly different profile. I'm on the original and despite some slight de-lamination at the edges I don't want to swap it out.
Must admit the bike chain wax sounds a good idea - haven't got the squeek but it may help deter rust (lower screen front/back and scuttle are renouned for rust as the water settles in the well behind the rubbers).
Also check out 911UK forum for some meets for UK owners - 993 guys are great bunch!

noise
I found the noise in my dash !
glove box latch
Take it apart tighten center screw that backs off.
put in some hinge lube like a wax grease.
No noise except for the sweeet sound out the rear.
