Default Mille Miglia Exhaust?

I took off my driver's side muffler tonite in prep to send to Darin for the fister stage 3 fix. And to my surprise my tip was welded on. And to my bigger surprise, the muffler isn't stock but a Mille Miglia. The previous owner never mentioned that the car had these and I just assumed I had stock cause I guess I didn't know better.

So now I'll be getting the stage 3s w/o a core exchange. Any interest in my Miglias? They appear to be in nice shape, no idea how old but car has 53k total miles so somewhere less than that. I'll take the passenger's side off tomorrow night and get a few pics if any interest.

thanks

hello-
They sound nice but not the growl of the stage 3s. Although I've seen and heard many 993s, I haven't had my own side by side to another stock one for sound comparison. And the audio sitting in the seat is diff then when standing behind. So I just assumed I had a plain jane exhaust and they all sounded like that.
I'll post a few pics as soon as I can and set an asking price (and would be open to offers!)

thanks for prompt response. they are made here in Australia by a guy who learnt to weld in jail is the rumour....any chance of sticking them on some scales please as if I swap mufflers I'd like to go lighter than the weighty stocks. shipping out here is going to be frightening. thanks in advance

I have a Mille Miglia set up---produces some good, deep growl. Not Stage III's but night and day over stock.

The Mille Miglias are supposed to be very, very nice-sounding mufflers. I bought a set from Randy M years ago but never put them on since Bill Walczak gave me his set of Supercups. I was impressed with the build quality.

I had to work late tonite and unable to get a chance to take the passenger side off. Tomorrow (Saturday), I will take off the 2nd muffler, get pics and set a price. I don't want to say a price until I see what the overall condition is like. I also need to go thru the PO's receipts to see when these were put on. Sorry for the premature posting!

Thanks for the PMs and interest in these. Not really sure what to ask for them. A guy on another forum started asking $1k for a set of used ones and then knocked the price down $100 every so often until it looks like they sold for $500. So let's start at $500 obo + shipping.

They appear to be in good shape except for the mentions below. I didn't find the receipt but the PO had a bunch of performance work done in '02 at 35K miles so I'll use that as the guess for when these were installed. That's puts them at 8yo and about 18k miles.

I took them off, hosed them down and went over them lightly with a soft brush and dish soap. If scrubbed and polished, they'd really shine.

As you can see in the pictures, they have some discoloration, marks from the straps and two defects that I saw.

On the left muffler (driver's side), the back of the can edge has a small indentation.

On the right muffler (passenger's side), the tip scratches on the side. Until I had the muffler off, I never noticed them, no idea how they got there, was done by previous owner.

Please check out the photos, ask questions. I can take more photos if requested.

The left muffler weighs 13.25lbs, the right side 13.0. The straps weigh about 0.75 lb each.

thanks

That's a decent price; I sold my set for over $600, IIRC.

Perhaps double check on that strap diameter .... if you find yourself strapless, new OE Porsche straps may eat a large hole into the net sale price. If they are different, consider arranging a strap swap with the buyer

Excellent point, thanks for the tip. I'm editing the post to remove the "straps included" and will discuss straps with the buyer. thank you

FWIW I have a set of these and they are much lighter than the stock set up and sound pretty good. I set off car alarms all the time The only thing I don't really like about them is that the exhaust tips stick out a bit further than stock tips and there are no heat shields.

Fister can't modify these, because he charges a $390 non-exchange? I thought he did a complete rebuild on stock for the 3's.
