Default 996 Stereo HELP

I bought my car with 25,xxx miles and at the time the front speakers only worked. I was informed that the amp needed to be replaced and so I purchased a used one from a fellow Rennlister.

I had the amp installed today and I am getting some feed back from the back right speaker. With the key in or out of the ignition, this will occur when the stereo is on and even when the stereo is off.

When I lock the doors, there is no feed back coming from that speaker. When I unlock the doors and there is power to the speaker, a signal or something is being sent to that back right speaker (even with stereo off). Needless to say, I am trying to figure out if it is a speaker problem, amp issue or what.

I posted this with the 996 forum as well.

TIA

Sounds like a bad ground, or a bare wire some where. Best thing is to remove the head unit, & amp, then check all the wires. You might be better off asking the 996 board, as it may be one of the charms of owning a 996.

Thanks Stealth. Yeah, I posted "over there" with those guys and I will let you know once I have resolved this problem.

You're right tho, my 996 does have some charm... "Dude, that is a nice Carrera..I've always loved P...." was the compliment I received last night whilst I was bombing around the streets of Seattle

I don't think that was the charm he meant.

....generally stock amp, speakers & headsets all suck (imo & not intended to start a debate).
best mod (esp. for a cab) aftermarket audio set up.

FWIW when I got mine out of winter storage and reconnected the battery, I didn't even bother to recode the damn radio--too much distraction from a great sound eminating from the exhaust!!
