Default best combination (imo)

just listed & to me a perfect combination, modified 993 engine combined with earlier (to me , no intent on starting debates) earlier, smaller lighter & tighter (911 - shared with 964) body/chassis. NO affiliation

Very nice. It's been for sale for some time AFAIK.

This sums up the experience of most project car owners - no matter how well they are built, they are tough to move for anything approaching the cost of building. If I were building one, I'd set myself up for $0.50 on the dollar - at best - if it ever came time to sell.

It certainly helps if the builder/shop has a strong reputation, but considering a top shop/builder will usually charge top $$$, I don't know if the ratio comes out any better in the end.

What do you guys think?

Well done ...

993 based 3.9 liter. Bottom Line: This car would cost well over $100K to build. ASKING $55,000.

i agree, makes no difference whether its full off rotisserie rebuild, engine upgrade or tube chassis custom build.....unless you are extreme DIY type with exceptional skills/toolkit always better to buy power/mods on the `hoof`.

How can you post that here w/o expecting a debate??

No doubt that is a nicely done car, but lighter?? I doubt it, I have a similarly setup '76 C3, my 993 is lighter

tighter? I doubt that too, a 964/993 chassis is far stiffer than any 911

then add the issue of a 915 trying to cope w/ that engines torque, BTDT, it's questionable unless the car is babied, add that the brakes are good but 993tt/RS are still going to be better

that said I wouldn't kick it out of the garage

I LOVE the way this car looks but would agree with Bill's comments.

Custom/hotrod/clone etc. 911s are built to for individuals and their ideas. Not likely they'll be someone else's "perfect" car.

Sure does look good though.

....agree with you re the trans - if the engine numbers are correct would be an issue.

Great car for the right person. I've done a few extensive car builds, you are LUCKY to get $.50 on the dollar. You got to have receipts, & records, or the parts are not there. Some times, it's better to remove some things, to be less "hot rod" & more stock.

It takes time to sell, as you got find the right person who likes what you did. As with any car, it's only worth what some one will pay. I like it, & would like to have it, but for about 1/2 the price.

I'll bet that car sounds great! Love that brassy high pitch RSR sound of ITB's.

+1. I thought a 3.2 is already pretty capable in stock form? If I were to ever do an outlaw, for some reason I envision that it would be from one of the "unloved," mag-case years, like '74-'78(?).

If you are going to build something like this, you'd better be doing it for yourself and not for the bucks. We've been on both ends of extensive builds. Only once did we make money on one.

I'll remain silent on the particulars of the engine build, in deference to our resident experts, but 345 wheel HP? Uh, ok. Compare to an honest, verifiable Steve built 3.8 in the yellow car @ 325 flywheel. Or a '10 997GT3RS the guy with the shop next door to my garage at Thunderhill pulled 412 wheel HP out of two weeks ago.

Get a kick out of "track weapon." I'd put a small wager that exclusive of the "long straight" tracks (he mentioned Brainerd, likewise Road America), you'd not break existing Spec Miata track records with that car as-is. Fun street car, but be honest about what it is.................
