Default Who is using Amsoil in Manual Transmission?

I am pondering using Amsoil 75W90 synthetic gear oil when I do a fluid change. Here is a link to the product:

http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?code=SVGQT-EA

I have a friend that is a dealer so I can get it at an affordable price. I did some research here and there is not a lot posted about it. The old 2000 series Amsoil is no longer used from the research I have done which is what some of the older posts discuss. Is was pondering Redline but I can not find it near me. Am I a fool for using anything but Mobil Delvac of Redline?

It's worth a shot. The effects of gear oil are very noticeable, good and bad. I think most people play it safe.

As a 915 driver in a past life, Gear oil choices keep me up at night.

I have a friend that uses that and his car shifts nice.

I've wondered the same thing about the Amsoil gear oil. I'm also a dealer, and get it at a good price, but have always used Mobil Delvac. I can get both Amsoil and Redline easily, but the Delvac has to be ordered. If you decide to try it, please post your thoughts.

I ran it for a year and it was similar to Delvac or Redline. As I said in another post recently, the only differences I noticed was during the cold 1/2 shift. Its not significant. Long term wear and tear is a whole other issue but not a concern to me.

I run it! The stuff is great!! I just finished off my 5g pail of the Series 2000 stuff, & was forced to put in "normal" stuff in the C4, both front diff, & trans. Works fine, & the car seams smoother with it, no cold shifting or noise. I also have the LSD/ABD.

Run it with no worries, it's a outstanding product, on line with all the other top brands!

I check their website for the 2000 series oil but it does not look like they produce it any longer. The link I have posed above is the oil they recommend. Do we really need "severe gear" oil?

They haven't made it for a couple of years now. You will be fine with the regular stuff. I would only use the severe stuff if you track the car, or have a loose gearbox.

I am 99.9% sure that I have some left over 2000 series 75/90 if you are interested. I am in Evergreen.....well, most of the time. I am currently in CA, but will be back Thursday night and could meet up with you on Friday.

Larpy, regardless of your final selection, do a used oil analysis on the trans fluid, and start building a baseline for future tests. Places like Blackstone do this for about $23.
