Default Air Injection Check Valve

I was replacing my fuel filter today and while re-installing the air box noticed a hose disconnected and a lot of rust! I check and discovered it is the Air injection check valve (993-113-250-03). It's all clogged up. What would this do to the engine/performance?

In any case, I am going to replace - is there anything else I should replace/check while doing this (the cut off valve - 993-113-245-01, for example)?

That's a common problem I believe. Does not affect driveability as this is part of the SAI system and functions only during engine warm up to help reduce emissions.

The system is of little use and probably doesn't even function on many of the OBD1 cars that won't trigger a check engine light.

Peter,
Here's the route I took with my early '95: SAI.

AOW162435 - Wow! I didn't know you could do that. I am in Kalifornia so maybe I should just put the airbox back in and forget about it.

Would I need to plug the hose that goes into the the Check valve?

Peter,
Check with jmarch (Joe) - he's in Kalifornia as well and did the same...

You can remove the entire system (pump, stainless steel hard lines, check valve, aluminum air manifold, etc.) and then use the threaded plugs (Patrick Motorsports) referenced in my write-up to seal the cam tower ports. Perfect & clean.
