If you had to pick just 1 car to keep, which one would you keep? (993 vs 740i)

My final thoughts as well:
This thread makes me realize that many parts of marriage make me happy that I'm single.
With all of Steve's ample resources, he can easily solve all his problems, should he choose that path.
Money brings as many problems as it solves; I have nowhere near Steve's net worth and make about as much as he does these days, but I think I'm ten times more peaceful, content and happy with my lot.
A sense of entitlement and misplacement of priorities are a few of the major components that are destroying the already fragile fabric of our failing society.
Again, good luck Steve. May you find some peace and happiness soon as well.

She made a deal with me this morning - Take and pass the real estate class I was thinking of doing, get my license, work it part time with my barely full time job - weekends and evenings, and I can keep the cars, for now, for a while at least, until one of them needs a MAJOR repair - ie: trans, engine, $5k problem, etc.
As long as your cool with this, and hanging onto these things is that important, thats all that matters.
If it were me I'd be starting over on my own, even if I was missing out on a big inheritance.

We were faced with the real possibility of a similar situation almost exactly a year ago. We lucked out, landed a position and have been able to maintain, but I have to say, it's caused us to reflect on what is really important. In fact, we really wish we were still in our 1500 SF house that we bought as newlyweds instead of the 3000 SF one we are in now. Sure we couldn't fit as much crap in the small house, but that's it... it's just crap. Doesn't really make us more happy or enjoy our life together, make our kids better people, etc.
I sold my 993 in September and while I intend to get back into one, it was partly because I just didn't see spending the money on it right now. With the uncertainty out there, I wanted every bit of freedom I could get to be flexible.
In the end, we are staying in our house too, perhaps for different reasons from you. We decided we would really lose money and have nowhere near the equity you have in yours.
Good luck to you... I do mean that sincerely. I do have to admit though, you need to take stock of where you are and what is really important. Once you figure it out for yourself, your wife really needs to do the same thing. Hopefully you end up on the same page.

As of right now, this thread is the 246th most viewed thread out of the 56,653 threads on the 993 forum.
In other words, it's been viewed more times than 99.56% of the threads on here.
Just saying.

Indeed, the sense of entitlement is strong in many. It's hard to tell exactly how it originated.
